Hello, FTLT, Maybe one of you JRSC civic experts can help me. Can't get rid of that pinging! I changed the JR FMU (it busted a seal)put in RC 310's, and the 255pump, and the MSD6BTM set at 1 deg and 8 deg BTDC. But yet I am still pinging between 3-4500k @ part throttle 4-6psi max. At WOT everything ia awsome I run a little rich and I put down 178hp on a dynojet w/ 10 deg timing and the BTM off. I will try the catchcan theory but I dont think thats the answer. Should I go for the APEX, FIELD, maybe the SHOGUN, I am trying to hold of on the PMS. Maybe Water inj. Any exp or thoughts out there?

Another SC'd civic with the usual detonation problems. Let us know what you find. So far it's a mystery as to what causes detonation on our kits. People have their ideas but nothing's really been proven. Some people have had luck with the cartech FMU. How did you tell that your JR FPR busted a seal? I think mine may be dying on me but I'm not too sure what to look for. What year is your civic? Welcome to the board!

If you are running a D16Z6 JRSC (like me), then there is not much you can do for the detonation at that range, other than use a J&S to band-aid the problem.
Sounds like you are able to run better timing than I am.
I run 7deg, with a J&S and still get detonation if it is slightly warm out. If I gun it, then of course there is no detonation in the top end.
It is just how that setup works, as far as with the RRR and stock ECU timing.
Save up for a zdyne when they come out, that's the only real way to fix it. Or hondata too I guess.
and if you aren't running a D16Z6, never mind what I said.
oh -- and a catch can is a nice thing to have regardless, but it will only help a little with the detonation in that range. Trust me, I already have mine installed.

I found that 1/2 deg retard was the best w/ BTM. I was running 1/2 retard @8-10deg BTDC when I had my 3.4 pulley on. Nonetheless, I still had pinging in certain spots(between 2500-3200 & 4400-4800rpms). I was running the 1gen Apexi SAFC. Didn't help at all. I'll probably try again w/ 3.4 or 3.6 pulley when my 310's come in thursday.
Like sjoback said get a J&S to help aid in the problem and get an Apexi SAFC(blue screen)or just live with it until Zdyne ecu comes out. Don't waste your time with PMS, it will not help. Good luck

Thx for responding, I will try the water inj, and then prob a more acurate timing device so I can tune it out prob the apex ITC.
Fred I chatted w/ you a while back u gave mw some good tips, but none worked.
As far as the seal I smelled some gas under the hood and checked out the FPR and sure enough it was ever so slightly dripping. Not much though and it sent my fuel press to 110+ OUCH. I will be bak in 2 hrs see ya then

You may have success with the Apexi V-AFC, much better than the fields. I'd also recommend the J&S Safeguard.
That area is the popular detionation area. I think the stock ECU advances timing during that region of the RPM band.
